Earlier today, or maybe yesterday (they all run together especially after a hard day of football capped off by too much wine), one of the Most High Cs and I were having a discussion about my domain name and its shortcomings. Should I change it to thehighcs.net?

Minorly confuzzled... you're thinking of changing cherylleigh.com to thehighcs.net?
In some cases change is good - in this case change means work (changing email addresses, re-routing links - yuck) - so I say no . . .
